Prop 65 LabelsUpdated 11 days ago

Firstly, nothing has changed in our products, and we’re still shipping the cleanest, real-food supplements available in the market. You’re likely wondering why you’re seeing this sticker for the first time. Here’s some key context and the answer to your question:

At Equip, we hold ourselves to quality standards that exceed the normal requirements of the state and the FDA. This commitment is why we’re known for having the cleanest real-food supplements. Our quality is reinforced by third-party testing, which we’re happy to share.

This means starting with the purest ingredients possible and ensuring that each product is individually tested for heavy metals, microbial contamination, and label claims.

California Prop 65, also known as The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about possible exposure to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm.

The goal of mandatory Prop 65 language is to protect consumers. While these protections have consumers’ health in mind, it’s important to note that heavy metals like lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury occur naturally in soil and water, even in the most pristine environments.

As plants grow, they pull nutrients from the soil and water, including trace amounts of some naturally occurring heavy metals. Equip products consistently test below Prop 65 limits, but we have to be proactive as there are many profit-seeking lawyers suing brands when they don’t provide warnings on packaging. We’ve just started stickering our bags because the volume of litigation has increased significantly.

Since Equip sources some of the purest natural ingredients for our products (and we proudly sell to Californian consumers), we’re obligated to add the Prop 65 warning to our packaging.

However, the levels of these chemicals in our products are similar to those in an all-organic plant-based diet and are completely safe. All Equip products are still within federal or international safety limits and undergo rigorous testing to ensure safe levels of inorganic metals and other harmful toxins.
